31 January 2024<\/em> – Coordinator of the Erasmus+ co-funded project NEMOS, Mar\u00eda J. Cantalejo D\u00edez from the Public University of Navarra, was a speaker at the symposium Women for the Promotion of Sustainability in Times of Climate Change<\/em><\/strong> (original Spanish title: Mujeres por el Impulso de la Sostenibilidad en Tiempos de Cambio Clim\u00e1tico<\/a><\/em>). In her presentation on Sustainability as a key competence and driver of social change<\/em><\/strong> she highlighted some key results of the NEMOS project.<\/p>\n

Focusing first on environmental sustainability, she described it as one of the values that should govern society and a key competence for students when it comes to face challenges such as climate change, food waste or loss, due to a general inefficiency in the use of natural resources.<\/p>\n

As for economic and social sustainability, she stressed the important role that women can play in this regard and claimed that gender equality will be crucial for a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

The symposium was organized as an online event by the Teder – Tierra Estella Association<\/a> on 31 January 2024 and welcomed more than 50 attendees from Spain and Latin America.<\/p>\n

About the NEMOS Project<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NEMOS project acknowledges sustainability as an increasingly crucial skill for graduate and post-graduate students to tackle important global challenges such as climate change, food waste and the loss of biodiversity in their professional future. Therefore, the project aims to define a new educational model to integrate sustainability competences in the curricula of food-related degrees by means of service learning.<\/p>\n

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, the NEMOS project is led by the Public University of Navarra and includes the following consortium partners: Technological University Dublin (Ireland); Technological University Graz (Austria); Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes Higher Institute of Agriculture (France); University of Pisa (Italy); and IGCAT.<\/p>\n
